Cyberattack puts civil guards and military personnel's personal data at risk

The company Medios de Prevención Externos Sur SL, in charge of medical examinations for civil guards and military personnel, has reported that on March 22 it suffered a cyberattack. The incident compromised personal data of its patients. In a communication, the company has indicated that the attack was of the LockBit 3.0 ransomware type and that a complaint has been filed with the Guardia Civil. They are also working with Telefónica to address, resolve and investigate the incident.

According to the company, cybercriminals may have accessed sensitive data such as TIP numbers, cell phones, emails, birth dates, gender, jobs and medical results. As a result, corrective measures, including mass password changes, are being implemented to address the situation.
