An insider in Raytheon

Wei Sun, a former engineer at Raytheon Missiles and Defense, a company that develops and produces missile systems for the US military, has been sentenced to 38 months in prison for being found guilty of violating the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), after leaking sensitive information to the Chinese government.

After having been working for the company during 10 years, Sun had access to confidential technical information, whose export is controlled and prohibited without a license issued under the AECA and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

The leak of information, related to an advanced guided missile system, took place through the corporate computer that Sun carried on a trip to China without the above-mentioned licences.
