Ransomware attack compromises UN agency data

Updated on 16/04/2024

The United Nations Development Program (UNPD) has confirmed that it was the target of a ransomware attack that resulted in a data breach in late March. According to the statement issued by UNPD, the attack affected the IT infrastructure at UN City in Copenhagen and resulted in the loss of information related to human resources and procurement.

While the release did not specify the exact nature of the compromised data, it was noted that the attackers were able to access multiple servers and steal a significant amount of sensitive information. Although the UNPD has not officially identified the group responsible for the attack, a ransomware group known as 8Base claimed responsibility on its website.
