Attacks against LTE “4G” protocol
Posted date 06/07/2018
A research made to the Long Term Evolution “LTE” protocol, known as “4G”, has discovered 3 new attack vectors. Two of them are passive, there is no modification in the communications that allows a fingerprinting of the websites visited by the victim. The another discovered attack, called aLTEr, is an active attack where the victim connect to a fake access point created by a specific hardware where attacker could spy the communications or make a DNS spoofing attack.
This type of attack could be extrapolated to 5G, because the security measures of this protocol are not mandatory.
