BT Group suffers ransomware attack by Black Basta group
BT Group, formerly known as British Telecom, is a multinational business group primarily involved in telecommunications, being the UK's leading telecommunications company and providing ICT infrastructure and services in 180 countries.
In a posting on a Dark Web forum, cyber criminals claimed to have stolen up to 500GB of data from the company, including financial and organisational data, user data and personal documents, NDA documents, confidential information, etc. Related to this information, the company has confirmed that its BT Conferencing division has suffered a cyber-attack following a breach caused by the Black Basta ransomware, but the impact has been limited to some functionality and has not affected business. BT Group said it shut down a number of servers to prevent the spread of the ransomware and potential disruption and business continuity failures.
