Credentials theft at ADT

ADT, a home and business security company, has disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission Form 8-K that it has suffered a cyber-attack that has led to the theft of encrypted employee data. This incident comes just two months after the same company announced that it had been the victim of another cyber-attack.

After becoming aware of the incident, ADT cut off unauthorised access, initiated an investigation and notified affected third parties and institutions. ADT has also implemented additional security measures to protect its ICT operations and resources. The data breach has caused some disruption to its services, but the company, at the time of publishing, rules out that user data has been affected this time and that it is limited to employee data only.
