Cyber-attack against gambling company IGT
International Game Technology (IGT) is a London-based manufacturer of slot machines and other gambling and lottery machines and technologies (offline and online) with more than 11,000 employees worldwide.
On Sunday November 17th, they detected an unauthorised access that caused problems with some of their internal information systems and applications. The company proactively halted operations during the incident to minimise damage, and activated its incident response plan at the same time as it began an internal investigation.
In a Form 6-K filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company explained what happened and that it continues to investigate whether the incident had a material impact. In addition, the company said it is contacting customers and affected third parties. As of press time, no malicious actor has claimed responsibility for the incident.
