vpnMentor's team of cybersecurity experts, led by Noam Rotem and Ran Locar, discovered a large data leak that affects millions of people in Ecuador.

The origin of the information leak, which affects more than 20 million people, was due to an unprotected server in Miami belonging to the Ecuadorian company Novaestrat, dedicated to data analysis and software development, who obtained the information illegally.

The amount of information filtered is 18 GB and includes data such as full name, gender, date and place of birth, home address, e-mail, telephone, marital status or studies.

The leak was reported to EcuCERT, CERT of Ecuador, which served as an intermediary to solve the problem.
