Guardia Civil arrests three pro-Russian hacktivists from the NoName057 group(16)

The Guardia Civil has arrested three cybercriminals in Manacor, Huelva and Seville. The detainees have voluntarily participated in Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, organized by the group known as NoName057(16), against institutions and companies, mainly in the public sector in Spain, several NATO countries and their allies. These detainees have been seized with a variety of computer material and documents of interest.

The group NoName057(16) was founded at the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine to participate in cyber-attacks as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), against those countries showing support to Ukraine. Mainly these countries are usually NATO members, including Spain, but attacks against Japan and South Korea have also been observed.

Despite being considered a hacktivist organization, their past ties with the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and their high level of organization with other pro-Russian hacktivist groups have made them a very active player in the international scene.

Despite the arrest by the Spanish Guardia Civil, they are continuing their investigation to identify other participants in the group.
