Ransomware cyberattack against Casio

Updated on 08/10/2024

The Japanese company Casio, known primarily for its watches but with a wide range of electronic products, has issued two statements reporting a cyber-attack on October 5th, which had compromised personal and confidential information.

On October 5th, Casio announced that unauthorised access to its systems had rendered some of them inoperative and that it was conducting an investigation to clarify the incident and report it to the relevant authorities and external teams. However, just three days later, it announced in a second statement that the cyber-attack was caused by ransomware on its servers and that personal information and confidential documents of its affiliated companies had been discovered to have been leaked.
