Yahoo hacker sentenced to 5 years in prison

Canadian cyber-criminal Karim Batarov has been sentenced to 5 years in prison and a fine of 250,000 dollars for attacking Yahoo in 2014, having compromised 500 million user accounts.

Batarov admitted to assisting the Russian government in the attack.

The other three defendants, Dmitry Dokuchaev and Igor Sushchin, from the FSB (Federal Security Service), and Alexsey Belan, Baratov's fellow hacker, reside in Russia where there is no treaty extraction with the US.
