Indigo books & Music chain, new victim of a cyber-attack
Indigo Books & Music, Canada's largest bookstore chain, has suffered a cyber-attack, making its website unavailable to customers and only accepting cash payments at its physical stores. The company's CEO, David Masson, claims that the incident was not an internal error, but a ransomware attack that is already under investigation.
While the investigation is being completed, 10 days after the attack, the company has created a temporary website to continue serving its customers, although for the moment not all its functionalities are available and card payments are already possible in its physical stores.
The company does not rule out the possibility that customers' personal data may have been leaked, although no evidence has yet been found that their credit card details have been compromised.
