200 GB of customer data from the Veeam company exposed

Security researcher Bob Diachenko discovered an exposed MongoDB database that contained more than 200 gigabytes of customer data, where it is estimated that there are about 445 million records spread between names, email addresses and, in some cases, IP addresses.

The data, stored on an AWS server, seemed to be used by Veeam's marketing automation team to reach its customers using its Marketo solution, a marketing-focused tool based on email accounts, social networks or mobile devices.

Veeam co-CEO and President, Peter McKay, commented that, after receiving the notice, they had secured all the databases.
