Adoption of the NIS2 Directive

Posted date 03/01/2023

The Official Journal of the European Union published Directive (EU) 2022/2555 on measures to ensure a high common level of cybersecurity across the EU. This new regulation, known as the NIS2 Directive, amends the regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market.

The adoption of this directive aims to eliminate differences between Member States in the implementation of the NIS Directive (2016) on the security of network and information systems by obliging Member States to adopt national cybersecurity strategies and to designate or establish competent authorities, cybersecurity crisis management authorities, single points of contact on cybersecurity and cyber incident response teams.
