Australia's emergency alert service committed

Kerry Plowright, director of the Early Warning Network (EWN) reported on January 5, 2019 that the Australian institution was compromised by an attacker who managed to access the service thanks to exposed credentials and used it to send SMS and emails to a part of the Australian population, supplanting the emergency service used by the government.

In these communications the attacker sent suspicious links and indicated that the EWN had been hacked, that the personal data was not safe and that they were working to fix the security flaws.
