Cyberattack causes diversion of funds in the Provincial Council of Ourense

The Provincial Council of Ourense was the victim of a computer attack allegedly carried out by a citizen resident in the Canary Islands, which diverted funds intended for subsidies to other bank accounts. The cyberattack was made public after the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the bank fraud.

The council, through an official statement, explains that it is conducting a forensic analysis to determine the origin of the cyberattack, which led to the temporary closure of the website and email as a precautionary measure, although these services have already been re-established. In addition, the facts have been reported to the police and have been brought to the attention of the AEPD and the CCN.
