Cyberincident at ThyssenKrupp
ThyssenKrupp, a steel company operating in several sectors, faced a cyberattack on its automotive division, leading to the shutdown of its IT systems to prevent further damage.
The Automotive Body Solutions business unit discovered unauthorised access to its IT infrastructure, triggering the activation of security measures. ThyssenKrupp's Saarland plant was directly affected by the cyberattack, resulting in the disruption of its operations. Although the company assured that other parts of its business were not affected, there are concerns that prolonged disruptions could have a significant impact on supply chains.
So far, the exact nature of the attack and the perpetrators behind it remain unknown. This is not the first such incident for ThyssenKrupp, which was previously the target of a ransomware attack by the Conti Group in 2020, although no data or material losses were confirmed at the time.
