Data breach in Under Armour impacting 150 million user accounts

Fitness vendor Under Armour reported a massive data breach occurred in February 2018, affecting 150 million users form their MyFitnessPal app. The affected information included usernames, email addresses, and hashed passwords (the majority with the hashing function called bcrypt). No Social Security numbers or driver's license numbers have been affected, as they have not been collected by Under Armour. Payment card data was also not affected because it is collected and processed separately.

The company is working with data security firms in its investigation and also coordinating with law enforcement authorities. It is also notifying the MyFitnessPal community via email and app messaging about what happened. This notice also contains recommendations helping users in their information protection.
