Data leak at an Australian airport

Posted date 21/12/2017

In March 2016, information was leaked at the Perth Australian airport where a large amount of data was taken, including schematics and details of the airport's security components. However, the attack was unable to obtain access to other airport data such as radar information or aeronautical operations that were being carried out. After the investigations carried out by the Australian authorities, they came to the conclusion that the attack came from Vietnam, so the Vietnamese authorities proceeded to arrest the implicant.

The attacker managed to carry out the data theft, using the credentials of access to a contractor's system, which gave him access to the airport's systems. In addition, the one involved in the attack also tried to hack critical infrastructure of Vietnam, including banks and military corporations.

To this day, the hacker is in prison accused of stealing information from the corporate network of the Australian airport.
