Data leak in Dixons Carphone affects millions of users

Dixons Carphone has suffered an information leak that affects 5.9 million credit cards of the payment systems used by its customers to buy in their Currys PC World and Dixons Travel online stores. As reported by the company, only 105,000 cards of customers outside the EU have been affected. The rest of the cards are protected, they do not store verification codes such as the PIN number or the CVV.

The leaking of information has also affected 1.2 million personal data, including names, postal addresses and email addresses.

According to company sources, the breach occurred in July of last year, but the company has not detected evidence that the stolen data have been used in fraudulent activities. In addition, the company has contacted the affected customers to provide advice and solutions to this incident.
