Data theft from Maxar Space Systems employees

Maxar Space Systems, a US company based in Colorado that manufactures parts, components and systems for satellites and other types of spacecraft on a commercial basis, primarily as a supplier to the US government, has suffered a security breach that has affected its employees.

On October 4th, an attacker whose IP originated in Hong Kong gained access to Maxar's systems. For a week, until October 11th, the cybercriminal had access to employee data, including name, social security number, gender and address.

The company contacted the authorities in the states where the employees reside to investigate what happened and contacted a security firm, as well as an external firm to help improve security and notify those affected.
