Europol and U.S. Department of Justice dismantle international cybercrime network

An international operation coordinated by the U.S. Department of Justice and Europol has succeeded in dismantling a complex network of cybercriminals.

The criminals would have obtained an estimated $100 million from different bank accounts, controlling the computers of more than 41,000 victims, after having infected them with a malware called GozNym.

The operation has identified 11 defendants residing in Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova and Bulgaria, of whom 6 have been arrested and 5 remain under arrest warrants.
