Europol closes two black market portals on Dark Web
Europol has done one of the largest international raids by collaborating between different countries and organizations to close black market portals of the Dark Web, Wall Street Market and Silkkitie (known as Valhalla).
The German Federal Criminal Police, coordinated with Europol, Eurojust and various US government agencies, were responsible for the shutting down of Wall Street Market, the second largest black market on the Dark Web, where drugs, document forgery, sale of stolen data and malicious software were trafficked. Three suspects were arrested and more than 550,000 euros in cash, along with cryptocurrencies in Bitcoin and Monero, in quantities of 6-digit amounts; in addition to several vehicles, computers and data storage.
On the other hand, in the U.S., the investigation by the Attorney General in Los Angeles, two of the highest sellers of narcotics were arrested.
Finnish Customs, in cooperation with the French National Police, were responsible for closing the Silkkitie portal, one of the oldest portals on the Dark Web that was responsible for selling drugs and other illegal products.
As a result of the success of this operation, Europol has established an international team dedicated to investigating the Dark Web.
