The Pentagon reported on October 12, 2018 that a security breach in the Department of Defense's travel records occurred through a single commercial provider.

Lt. Col. Joseph Buccino, a Pentagon spokesman, explained that the personal information and credit card data of 30,000 workers belonging to U.S. military and civilian personnel was compromised.

Buccino also specified that the provider provides service to a very small portion of the population and that they have taken steps to have the provider cease performance under its contracts.
