Exposed personal data of NASA employees

NASA issued an internal statement revealing that one of its servers suffered unauthorized access on October 23, 2018.

According to Bob Gibbs, assistant administrator of the Office of Human Resources, NASA's cybersecurity staff identified a security breach in one of its servers where Personally Identifiable Information (PII) was stored. The information contained Social Security numbers and other information about the agency's current and former employees.

Once the incident was discovered, immediate action was taken to protect the servers and the data they contained. In addition, the space agency and the FBI are determining both the extent of the possible leak and the people who might be behind the attack.
