Exposure of client data in the Marriott hotel chain

The Marriott hotel chain has once again suffered a cyber security incident that has affected the privacy of its customers' data, as indicated in its official statement. This time, some 5.2 million people have been affected by the cyber attack.

The information displayed includes contact details (name, email, postal address and telephone number), registration details (account number and points balance), personal details (company, gender and birthday), affiliations and preferences (type of room and language).

As detailed in the statement, the company has contacted the affected customers, has enabled a website and a call center. The hotel chain has also communicated the incident to the relevant authorities and is collaborating with them in the investigation.
