Fresenius health group, victim of Snake ransomware

Fresenius, one of the largest private sector healthcare companies in Europe, and owner of QuironSalud, has suffered a cyberattack from the ransomware called Snake.

Fresenius spokesman Matt Kuhn confirmed to media outlet KrebsOnSecurity that the security infrastructure detected an attempt to cyberattack the company's equipment and reported that steps have been taken to prevent further spread. He also clarified that they have brought the incident to the attention of the authorities and that care is maintained for his patients.

The modus operandi of the Snake ransomware is to extract the files before encrypting the compromised computers on the network, and then extort the victims with the publication of the files, with an approximate term of 48 hours to pay the ransom.
