Game Freak data leak
Game Freak is a Japanese video game company founded in 1989, best known for being the creators of Pokémon. As the company has confirmed, they suffered a cyber-attack in August that has resulted in a massive data leak, including information about their employees and the company's past and future projects. The data breach has been dubbed Teraleak by the community and media due to its massive size.
In August 2024, Game Freak detected unauthorised access to its systems, and although the organisation activated its defence mechanisms, it was unable to prevent the theft of 1.8TB of data, including 2606 data entries belonging to current and former employees of the company. In addition, Game Freak has refused to clarify questions about information on current and future video game projects or source code.
Game Freak assures that it has taken steps to ensure that this does not happen again and is contacting any affected individuals.
