Halliburton oil company suffers cyber attack

Halliburton, one of the world's largest energy companies, with 48000 employees and more than $20 billion in annual profits, reported last Wednesday, August 21, a cyberattack through an 8-K security report.

The attack forced the company to downsize and shut down some of its systems as a protective measure. Halliburton has contacted both law enforcement and private contractors to investigate the incident. At the time of writing, the details of the attack and which specific systems were affected have not yet been clarified. However, it has been confirmed that the cybercriminals were able to gain access to the company's internal systems.
