INTERPOL operation dismantles thousands of malicious IPs
INTERPOL has conducted an international operation, Operation Synergia II, targeting cybercrime infrastructure, disabling 22,000 malicious IPs used for phishing campaigns, information stealers and ransomware. In addition, 41 individuals were arrested during the operation and 65 more are still under investigation, in addition to 59 servers and 43 devices (computers, hard drives, smartphones, etc.).
INTERPOL worked with private sector companies such as Group-IB, Kaspersky, Trend Micro and Team Cymru to identify these malicious assets. On the law enforcement side, 95 countries participated in the operation, most notably Hong Kong (China), Mongolia, Macau (China), Madagascar and Estonia, which made the arrests, dismantled the servers and websites, and confiscated the devices.
