Leaked plans for prisons in England and Wales on the Dark Web

Updated on 23/11/2024

The UK Ministry of Justice has confirmed that it is investigating a data leak that could affect prisons in England and Wales. The information suggests that the data leak could be used by criminal groups to smuggle drugs and/or weapons into prisons or help prisoners escape, as the position of sensors, cameras and other surveillance devices could be among the data extracted.

The Cabinet Office and the Prison Service are investigating the source of the leak, while the National Crime Agency (NCA) is providing support. As we go to press, the UK Ministry of Justice has said it will take immediate action to ensure that prisons remain secure.
