McAfee revealed in the RSA Conference USA 2019 evidence about the campaign called Operation Sharpshooter, exposed in 2018, revealing that it is broader in complexity, scope and duration than what was initially discovered.

The vulnerability research division, McAfee Labs Advanced Threat Research, conducted the analysis, the results of which led to the identification of C&C (Command and Control) centers, and suggests that Sharpshooter began operating in September 2017, targeting a broader set of organizations, industries, and countries. It is still active today.

In addition, this new analysis has revealed similarities between the Sharpshooter attacks in 2018 and those perpetrated by the Lazarus group in 2017 and 2016.
