Updated on 07/11/2024

Newpark, a Texas-based supplier of value-added oilfield equipment and parts, reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on November 7th that it suffered a ransomware-type cyber attack on October 29th.

According to the company, the incident caused disruptions and limited access to certain company information systems for corporate operations. Reducing these activities, following established downtime procedures, allowed manufacturing processes and field operations to continue uninterrupted.

Newpark has not clarified details on how the criminals gained access to its network, nor which threat actor might be responsible.
