Thousands of card data stolen in Pakistan

Posted date 13/11/2018

On October 26, 2018, data of more than 9,000 cards were published on Darkweb, the majority belonging to Pakistani banks, to which we must add that on October 31, 2018 a second remittance of 11,000 more cards was published, all on sale for prices between $100 and $160.

At first, it was believed that the BankIslami bank's servers had been compromised, but when checking the number of cards and that they belonged to different banks in Pakistan, it was evident that a multitude of ATMs and merchant machines had been hacked.

The concerned banks informed customers via SMS and blocked cards for their online and international use. The reason for these prices is unclear, as there are cards with higher money limits that are sold for less money on the Darkweb.
