United States and the United Kingdom point to Russia for supporting cyber attacks

A notice has been published that has been jointly produced by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the FBI and the National Cybersecurity Center of the United Kingdom (NCSC). The published information indicates that Russia has promoted and supported cyber attacks since 2015 against government organizations, critical infrastructures, Internet service providers (ISP) and private companies.
The main objective of these cyber attacks were network devices such as routers, firewalls or NIDS compatible with the SMI protocol. Once the attackers had control of the network devices they used them for different purposes such as espionage, intellectual property theft and the study of the environment to perpetrate future attacks.
