WhatsApp faces millions in GDPR fine

The Data Protection Commission has ordered WhatsApp Ireland Ltd. to pay a fine of 225 million euros for allegedly failing to comply with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation in its obligation to inform users and be transparent in the handling of data between Facebook and WhatsApp.

The company disagrees with the decision and will appeal.
