Operation Magnus against Redline and Meta

Posted date 05/11/2024

Operation Magnus, conducted by an international coalition of law enforcement agencies, dismantled the infrastructure of infostealers RedLine and META, both of which were used to steal sensitive information from users around the world such as passwords, authentication cookies, history, SSH keys, cryptocurrencies and other sensitive files. Coordinated by Dutch and US authorities, the operation resulted in the seizure of servers and domains used in the distribution of the stealer malware.

This operation included the disruption of online services, such as Telegram channels, used to run the cybercrime networks. In addition, police warned about the seriousness of the impact of these malware and provided resources for victims to protect their data.

Although no arrests have been made so far by the Dutch National Police, they managed to collect data from the malware operators that is useful enough to be able to identify and arrest them.
